How does Chiropractic work?

Chiropractic works because you are a self-healing, self-regulating organism controlled by your nervous system. The energy and communication that controls your body flows from your brain, down the spinal cord and out to every organ and tissue. Signals sent back to the brain confirm if your body is working right. Improper motion or position of the moving bones of the spine, called a subluxation, can interfere with this vital communication process by irritating nerves and compromising the function of affected organs and tissues.

What is an adjustment?

Daily neglect, repetitive stress, inactivity, injuries and over-exertions often cause joints of the spine to shift out of alignment and can cause irritation and pain. Chiropractic adjustments usually involve a quick gentle thrust that helps add motion to the spinal joints that aren’t moving right. Some methods use the doctor’s hands or a small mechanical adjusting device called an Activator. Either way, Chiropractic adjustments are an extremely safe, effective and painless method of freeing the joints of the spine so that they can function normally, relieving you of pain, and returning you to normal activity.

How many adjustments will I need?

The number of adjustments varies with each patient and his or her individual health goals.  Many patients sense progress within a week or two of frequent visits. Visits become less frequent as your spine stabilizes.  In chronic cases, complete healing can take months or even years.

Is everyone adjusted the same way?

No. Everyone that comes into our office  presents with a different case history.  Each individual has had different injuries, trauma, ages, stress, body types, and  life-style habits. No one size fits all  Therefore, we customize a unique and different treatment plan for each individuals needs.

Why do newborns get adjusted?

The birthing process is when your first subluxations can occur. A difficult delivery, forceps, vacuum distraction, some c-sections can cause trauma to an infant’s spine.  Only a doctor of chiropractic can locate and correct subluxations. Pediatric adjustments are safe and quite gentle.  The doctor applies very light pressure to adjust an infant’s spine.

Are the adjustments or therapies you provide painful?

No. We take great care to perform treatment that is comfortable. In fact, most patients look forward to receiving it.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes.  We can bill your insurance company. Or, we can provide you with a “super-bill” if you wish to submit to your own insurance. Many of the treatment procedures we use are cutting-edge and simply are not billable to any insurance company.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! There are several plan options. The 12-month interest free program is a popular plan. 24 and 36 month options are also available. Your available options will be discussed when your treatment plan recommendations are presented.
